    The Opportunity

    We are expanding and seeking to hire Senior Build Engineer to help Patelco’s new and continuous integration deployment process. In this role you will be automating the deployment process, Support the Dev/QA Teams with regards to the build Process and managing Source code control systems, work with DevOps team(s) to improve efficiency, etc... You should be self-directed, team-oriented, know and care what the customer wants from our service. This position requires healthy doses of initiative and flexibility in a very dynamic environment. You should be detail-oriented enough that you've actually had people comment on it. Additionally, the role requires understanding the underlying technologies and theory needed to build scalable data-driven architectures so that these technologies can be turned into real systems. The role requires a strong team player who is comfortable working closely with product and partners.

    Responsibilities

    • Support and enhance build and deployment tools through automation using a combination of scripting and processes
    • Source Code Control Administration, i.e. maintaining and administering the source code repositories, including implementation of automated controls and enhancements (e.g. TFS, SVN, GitHub)
    • Perform release activities in coordination with Project Management, QA, Release Management and Web Development teams in a timely and efficient manner, to ensure smooth repeatable releases
    • Support multiple concurrent releases through various test environments
    • Manages builds/releases for Enterprise SaaS solution in a dynamic environment
    • Architects and implements the tool-set required to automate the migration of code from development, testing, staging through to production
    • Designs and implements solutions to ensure high system availability in test environments
    • Works with third party integration vendors, customers and the networking group to resolve outages in production environments
    • Maintains stack diagrams, configuration information and release history for all environments
    • Configures and prepares production releases, prepares deployment and rollback instructions, presents production patches and releases to the change board
    • Supports ongoing project needs in build construction, promotion and verification with focus to implement build and release automation

    Qualifications

    • BA/BS Degree preferred or equivalent work experience
    • 5+ years in a VMware/Windows/UNIX/Linux Release Engineering role, including Source Code Management administration
    • Building and deploying .NET based applications
    • Isolating build/deployment issues versus code issues
    • 5+ years deployment automation experience
    • 3+ years using defect tracking systems (e.g. JIRA)
    • 2+ years CI tools experience
    • Proven experience with implementing ARA tools
    • Experience working with web server technologies
    • Solid background in Agile SDLC management including escrow, software configuration and change control management
    • Strong aptitude toward understanding complex existing scripts and workflows under guidance, with an ability to support and enhance them
    • In-depth understanding of the principles and best practices of Software Configuration Management
    • Experience working with rapid, overlapping product release cycles and shifting priorities
    • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
    • Willingness to work during late evenings and weekends in support of deployments
    • SaaS experience preferred
    • Automation focused
    • Excellent customer service attitude, communication skills (written and verbal), and interpersonal skills
    • Patience and perseverance in following best practices for process improvements
