    In this role, responsibilities will include processing of incoming check deposits, completion of account verification requests, and servicing of membership accounts.  The successful candidate will be detail-oriented, possess strong organizational skills, and able to multi-task between various deadlines and priorities.

     

    Responsibilities

    • Responsible for accurately posting mailed checks for share deposits and loan payments to designated account with a high level of accuracy
    • Post contributions from HSA Employer groups to employees’ account as explicitly requested in an accurate and timely manner
    • Review each check received for acceptance and negotiability standards under Regulation CC; verify necessary endorsements, payee information and depository account prior to acceptance
    • Balance checks, drawer, and general ledgers including accounting center; ensure timely transmission for settlement and collection of payment
    • Responsible for reviewing checks deposited through Remote Deposit Capture including completion of research, adjustments, and member communication
    • Complete account verification requests including Verification of Deposits, Social Security Administration Asset Verifications, and Immigration Verification Letters accurately and timely
    • Service existing Patelco members by processing membership changes such as adding/removing joint owners, updating of contact information, and opening of new suffixes; verify all requests to mitigate fraud and authenticate request
    • Support annual projects of funds escheatment including processing of returned mailed notices, outbound calling, and updating of account records
    • Comply with legal requests of garnishments, levies, and monetary judgments including freezing of all assets, preparation of member notification letters and remittance of funds to comply with state and federal government agencies. 
    • Assist in annual IRS backup withholding processes by completing necessary account research, remittance of member notification letters and placement of withholding restrictions on member accounts
    • Support internal staff members by answering incoming calls to the Help Line within service level standards
    • Understand and comply with all applicable federal and state laws and banking regulations (including those related to OFAC and Bank Secrecy Act / Anti-Money Laundering compliance) and Patelco Credit Union’s policies and procedures.
    • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned

    Qualifications

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Must have High School Diploma/GED
    • Minimum 1 year of previous experience in Customer Service, Banking, data entry, or handling of negotiable instruments
    • Working knowledge of check holds and error resolution
    • Excellent computer skills in Microsoft Windows include Word, Excel and Outlook
    • Possess working knowledge of basic accounting principles
    • Have excellent written and verbal communication skills and possess the ability to effectively communicate across all levels of team members and management

    Physical Activities/Requirements

    • This position is located in Merced, California
    • May require occasional travel to Patelco’s Corporate Headquarters in Pleasanton, CA
