    The Opportunity

    Working independently and under the guidance of the IT Infrastructure and Operations Manager, this position will function as the technical lead for the systems engineering team and is responsible for advanced Enterprise level support of all server and storage systems including HW, OS, and Apps.  They will perform discovery, design, build, and maintenance of IT infrastructure.  Activities will include 70% systems, 20% technical documentation and special projects (i.e. application deployment, etc.), and 10% Tech Support (user) support.  Actual ratio may fluctuate based on needs.

    Responsibilities

    • Advanced knowledge of cloud-based technologies and experience migrating applications and services to cloud providers.
    • Expert knowledge of Windows-based network systems, including Windows 2016, 2012 & 2008 Server, including knowledge of WINS, DHCP, DNS, SNMP, Event Viewer, Services, Replication, Trusts Relationship, User Manager, Server Manager and other Windows network operating system management applications.
    • Expert knowledge of Windows 7, 10 and other desktop operating system plus strong knowledge of Microsoft Office 2016, 2013.
    • Senior level experience in GFI, Solarwinds, MS server tools, SCCM and others are preferred. Other senior level experience in systems for backup, monitoring, patch management and server performance will be considered.
    • Senior level experience in VMware and MS Hyper Visor platforms.
    • Senior level experience with iSCSI, SAN technologies, Nimble and EMC VNX and Data Domain preferred
    • Senior level experience with virtual desktop (VDI) and Thin Client technologies, Citrix preferred others would be considered.
    • High-quality technical documentation skills required (e.g. system/network diagrams, etc.).
    • In a tiered environment, provide support, assistance and technical guidance to Systems Administrators/Engineers I, II and III, to other System Administrators, Network Engineering, and other IT personnel
    • Required to regularly produce high-quality technical documentation (e.g. installation manuals, etc.)
    • Off hours 24x7 support schedule as assigned. Servers and users may be located at remote sites and may require travel by car.

     

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree or Associates degree in computer science or other applicable technical certifications.
    • 7+ years’ experience Windows- and Intel-based server and network administration and support
    • 5+ years’ experience Windows/PC desktop support.
    • Possess strong English writing skills including the ability to use technical tools (i.e. Visio, etc.) to create detailed presentation quality procedures and manuals. MCSA, Citrix and VMWare certifications highly desired
    • A valid California driver’s license or evidence of mobility is also required due to off-site work assignments
    • Consistent high performer with the ability to be largely self-guided under the direction of IT management.
    • Ability to assume a lead role for the system engineer team and assist in managing priorities, resolving technical issues and leading by example.
    • Excellent time management with ability to communicate conflicting priorities to resolve blockers
    • Advanced knowledge of server hardware and other network equipment
    • Advanced knowledge of virtual machine (VM) environments.
    • Advanced knowledge of thin client/VDI environments
    • Advanced knowledge of storage area network (SAN) and network attached storage (NAS).
    • Direct experience with cloud-based services (AWS, Azure, etc.) and cloud-based applications (Salesforce, Zendesk, etc.).
    • Strong data center operations experience, both hosted and remote
