    In this role, the Manager of IRA/HSA is responsible for the management, rules and regulations implementations, operation and functions of Individual Retirement Account and Health Savings Account product offering for the credit union.  The position will oversee and manage all daily job functions of all related activities pertaining to Individual Retirement Account and Health Savings Accounts.


    • Responsible for the day to day operation, direction and administration of IRA and HSA accounts.
    • Responsible for compliance according to established procedures for the transactions involving Individual Retirement Accounts and Health Savings Accounts.
    • Maintains an in-depth knowledge of IRA and Health Savings Accounts regulatory requirements and industry trends with an eye for consumer and institution opportunities
    • Create and distribute information to staff and members related to IRA and HSA accounts in regards to regulations or regulatory updates/changes, processes and procedures.
    • Create strategic plan for business line and maintain authorized users with vendors.
    • Ensure compliance with governmental regulations in handling account transactions and IRS reporting as well as servicing accounts for distribution, transfers and rollovers.
    • Provide guidance, policies, and procedures for opening and maintaining IRAs and HSAs.
    • Subject matter expert for IRA and HSA; required to keep up to date on industry news and responsible for product knowledge on current IRS and State rules.
    • Manage Help Desk Tickets service level standards.
    • Develop procedures and process improvement measures to streamline operations including maintaining and tracking productivity reports.
    • Perform audits and report findings for corrective actions and secure proper documentations.
    • Establish and implement effective and efficient departmental work flow processes to ensure proper handling of member IRA and HSA paperwork and documentations.
    • Responsible in overseeing escheatment of funds for unclaimed property reporting requirements, member notification and outreach including internal communication and procedures.
    • Collaborate with Training Department to ensure staff are informed and trained related to product features, compliance and regulatory compliance for IRA and HSA accounts.
    • Works cooperatively with management to effectively communicate and implement performance standards, department goals, budgetary planning, etc.
    • Ensure department’s operations are aligned with organizational standards.
    • Accountable for staff development through regular coaching and one on one sessions.
    • Other duties assigned to meet business needs



    • Associate’s degree required, Bachelor’s degree preferred.
    • Minimum of 3 years of operations management strongly preferred.
    • Minimum of 3 years of experience dealing with IRAs with experience and working knowledge of complex IRA/HSA corrections, Inherited IRA, FDIC/NCUSIF guidelines and requirements including Trust Accounts
    • Minimum of 5 years of experience within financial industry.
    • In depth knowledge and experience in regulated environments, working with regulatory requirements and regulators, product concepts, practices, and procedures.
    • IRA Certification and Ascensus IRA Service Center experience preferred or equivalent.


    • Demonstrated strong organizational skills and experience in effective project management skills required.
    • Proven ability to lead people and get positive results through others, requiring in depth experience of collaborating between staff and members for best results.
    • Strong skill set in people development and ability to produce a highly engaged team
    • Strong interpersonal skills, excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively and build relationships both internally and externally.
    • Strong customer relations skills and a team player.
    • Must be flexible and adjust to schedule and adapt to the changing needs of the department and credit union.
    • Must have PC/Windows-based software experience and proficient in various Microsoft application including but not limited to Outlook, Word, and Excel.
