  • Overview

    Under the general guidance of the Core Services Manager, the Application System Analyst is responsible primarily for the development, testing, and deployment of scripts and applications to achieve the priorities and project goals set by IT Management and the Credit Union Leadership using the Fiserv Spectrum Core system and its connected systems.


    • Research, design, test, and deploy solutions to complete project tasks assigned to the Core Services Team.
    • Investigate reported issues and errors, diagnose problems, and present findings to the Core Services team and appropriate parties
    • Perform detailed analysis, identify opportunities for improvements, and present them to the Core Services team and appropriate parties.
    • Provide Level-2 support for issues related to the Core Services product provided to Patelco members and team members.
    • This key IT position is responsible for on time, accurate, project task completion, recommending and implementing changes in the life cycle of core technology infrastructure, software, services and support.
    • Create detailed work plans and project tasks for prioritized, planned activities, and in response to events, with consideration of where work can be outsourced or scoped for use in training others in the Core Services team.
    • Train team members in the best use of the Fiserv Spectrum Core system.
    • Create scripts in UC4/Automic, Unix shells, and other systems as needed.


    • Two or more years of application experience within the financial services industry
    • Two or more years of experience in automated enterprise job/task scheduling, preferably in UC4/Automic.
    • Experience writing and editing Unix shell scripts.
    • Requires two year associate degree, diploma, or equivalent from an accredited institution in Computer Science, Management Information Systems or a related field; or three years’ experience working in financial industry technology and/or operations, with preference to experience on the Fiserv/Spectrum Core system.
    • Intermediate understanding of Fiserv Spectrum products and services
    • Intermediate knowledge of Fiserv Spectrum database scripting tools: eloquence, query3k, suprtool, AskPlus, and/or Quiz/QTP.
    • Basic skills in project task definition, and reporting in a project management applications, such as Microsoft Project, Eclipse, JIRA, Microsoft Team Foundation Server, Asana, or Basecamp.
    • Basic knowledge of MS SQL tools and TSQL
    • Intermediate skills in MS applications including Word, Excel, Outlook, Visio (or other visualization application), and PowerPoint.
    • Intermediate knowledge of terminal emulation applications for Unix environments and their uses: Putty, Reflections, or similar
    • Strong written and oral/verbal communication abilities, Strong documentation and attentive to detail, Excellent listening and interpersonal skills, Willingness to learn and apply new knowledge
    • Ability to analyze data, synthesize information, and provide recommendations for action.
    • Ability to coordinate and manage numerous project tasks, end user requests, and problems in an environment of changing priorities and demanding deadlines.
    • Ability to recognize patterns, draw logical conclusions, and makes recommendations for action while weighing the relative merit and risks of possible solutions.
    • Ability to understand how Core system processes relate to each other, and ensure that critical processes affecting the integrity of member financial activity are completed on time with minimal error.
    • Ability to delegate tasks when appropriate to other members of Core Team and other groups in IT to assist with timely completion of projects.
    • Ability to listen and consider opposing points of view, and react objectively to respond to complex problems.
    • Ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical team members, and explain technical issues to non-technical people
    • Ability to be part of a team and work in a cross-functional environment as well as work independently
