  • Overview

    The Manager, Corporate Security is responsible for managing Patelco’s physical security (PS). The Manager, Corporate Security will partner with internal and external resources to ensure that these programs adequately protect Patelco’s members, employees, and assets during day to day business as well as during emergencies at the local, regional, and/or national levels. Specific responsibilities include continually coordinating and directing the evaluation, development, training, installation, testing, maintenance, updating, and enhancement of emergency response plans and procedures to help the credit union recover from physical security events and other major business disruptions. During an event, the Manager, Corporate Security will assist and update the credit union's crisis management team and assist with the direction to internal staff and business partners to ensure recovery efforts are well coordinated, communicated, and performed effectively. The Manager, Corporate Security will also act as a liaison to external emergency preparedness agencies, law enforcement, and other first responders.


    • Develop and execute strategies to identify, assess, prevent, protect and mitigate all risks, threats and vulnerabilities to safeguard membership, assets, product and property; to maintain continuity of operations.
    • Responsible for directing all aspects of Physical Security including: Access control systems, contract security officers, alarm systems, and camera systems.
    • Serves as the central resource, responsible for promoting consistency in Patelco Credit Unions physical security policies, procedures and practices in compliance with laws, regulations, and other compliance requirements.
    • Create and maintain physical risk analysis and assessments
    • Contracts for, manages, develops and provides performance oversight for all security service providers.
    • Cultivates effective partnerships with stakeholders in other parts of Patelco Credit Union to ensure the business mission reflects appropriate safety and security considerations.
    • Coordinate and lead Emergency Management Team
    • Develops budgets for security equipment, contracts and personnel.
    • Serve as Patelco Credit Union’s Emergency Management Coordinator
    • Serve as Patelco Credit Union’s Physical Security Advisor
    • Promptly responds to incidents and threats, gathers intelligence, conducts investigations and initiates follow up on events that put the organization at risk. Follow up with law enforcement and appropriate personnel as needed.
    • Develops and implements the physical training and awareness programs.
    • Develop and implement security risk assessment program for all facilities to include branches, ATM’s, corporate facility locations. Partner with the Risk Management Department in identifying potential physical security risks
    • Establishes standard levels of security for company locations and recommends which level should be implemented.
    • Maintains inventory of physical security equipment and maintenance schedule for equipment.
    • Partners with retail line of business on branch design incorporating appropriate physical security measures.
    • Participates in the creation of key performance measures and then monitors performance toward goals.
    • Under the guidance of Corporate Real Estate, create solutions that support the strategic direction of Patelco Credit Union.
    • Collaborating with Enterprise Risk, develop and execute a testing strategy for the credit union's crisis response and disaster recovery capabilities in each of the branches and business areas, to include the primary business lines and key back office
    • Coordinates with other areas of Risk Management to ensure that potential threats are properly identified, mitigated, and reported.


    • Bachelor's degree, or combination of education and related work experience
    • Minimum of 5 years of functional/professional experience with emphasis on law enforcement or physical security experience, business continuity planning, and/or disaster
    • Professional license(s) or certifications preferred (i.e. Certified Protection Professional, Physical Security Professional, Certified Fraud Examiner, Professional Certified Investigator, Certified Business Continuity Professional, ).
    • Possess a working knowledge of credit union or banking operations and a strong working knowledge of physical security, disaster recovery, and business continuity concepts, systems/tools, and
    • Be able to develop and implement a comprehensive risk assessment to efficiently and accurately identify business units that are critical to the credit union and outline the necessary recovery plans and strategies for each
    • Possess good analytical skills/experience to evaluate and develop effective recovery plans and strategies which provide an optimal level of protection and efficiency.
    • Demonstrate competence in the management of crisis incidents and the coordination of recovery efforts with internal and external parties.
    • Be familiar in the development, implementation, and performance of PS, DR, and BC testing exercises and walkthroughs of response and recovery
    • Possess good communication skills
    • Have experience in working with public authorities and emergency response agencies, local and state in the capacity of incident
    • Must be available on call any time during business hours to coordinate with crisis management efforts during emergencies, or at other times if the emergency occurs during non-business
    • Position requires a moderate to high level of physical
