  • Overview

    In this role, responsibilities will include processing and balancing of incoming check payments, servicing of membership account changes, and completion of dormant account notification letters. 

    The successful candidate will be detail-oriented, possess strong organizational skills, and be able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment


    • Directly responsible for processing daily incoming mail and written correspondence and taking appropriate actions on deposits, loan payments, account ownership changes, certificate renewals and verification of deposits.
    • Responsible for accurately posting mailed checks for share deposits and loan payments to designated account with a high level of accuracy
    • Post contributions from Health Savings Account Employer groups to accounts including accurate tax reporting codes
    • Review each check received for acceptance and negotiability standards under Regulation CC; verify necessary endorsements, payee information and depository account prior to acceptance
    • Balance checks, teller drawer, and general ledgers including accounting center; ensure timely transmission for settlement and collection of payment
    • Complete account verification requests including Verification of Deposits, Social Security Administration Asset Verifications, and Immigration Verification Letters accurately and timely
    • Service existing Patelco members by processing membership changes such as adding/removing joint owners, updating of contact information, and opening of new suffixes; verify all requests to mitigate fraud and authenticate request
    • Support annual projects of funds escheatment including processing of returned mailed notices, outbound calling, and updating of account records
    • Assist in annual IRS backup withholding processes by completing necessary account research, remittance of member notification letters and placement of withholding restrictions on member accounts
    • Complete membership maintenance requests including address changes, account closure requests, name changes, and card replacement orders
    • Support internal staff members by answering incoming calls to the Help Line within service level standards
    • Process help desk tickets including account research and check copy production within service level standards
    • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned
    • Enthusiastically provide support for Credit Union goals


    • Must have High School Diploma/GED
    • Minimum 1 year of previous experience in Customer Service, Banking or data entry
    • Working knowledge of Regulation CC and Funds Availability Policies
    • Excellent computer skills in Microsoft Windows include Word, Excel and Outlook
    • Possess working knowledge of basic accounting principles
    • Possess strong organizational skills and be detailed-oriented
    • Ability to follow instructions and work independently while exercising sound decision
    • Demonstrates ability and desire to thrive in a challenging fast-paced work environment
    • Able to work independently and in teams; promotes collaboration and demonstrates trust and integrity on a daily basis
    • Demonstrates versatility and flexibility with constantly changing priorities and tasks
    • Able to multi-task between multiple priorities and deadlines while maintain accuracy standards
    • Have excellent written and verbal communication skills and possess the ability to effectively communicate across all levels of team members and management
    • This position is located in Merced, California
    • May require occasional travel to Patelco’s Corporate Headquarters in Pleasanton, CA
